Unmatched in Bern: hundreds of organically produced wines wait to be discovered at the Swiss organic wine pioneer in Bern’s city centre and in the Liebefeld neighbourhood. There are also regular wine workshops and guided tastings for the environmentally conscious connoisseur.

Since 1980, family-run wineries have been producing characterful wines for the Swiss organic wine pioneer according to the Delinat guidelines – the most demanding in all of Europe. What makes a Delinat wine? The secret lies in the cultivation. In over one hundred points, the guideline defines the unique Delinat method. The vines grow amidst a colourful mix of herbs, bushes, hedges, and trees – habitats for songbirds, butterflies, ladybugs, and thousands of other beneficial insects that maintain the ecological balance and protect the vines from diseases. They, in turn, produce healthy, aromatic grapes which are turned into great wines in the finest terroir quality.

The large selection waits to be discovered in the spacious Delinat shop right by the Stadttheater Bern (Bern City Theatre). In addition to the 250 organic wines from all over Europe, it also includes a range of finest olive oils, vinegars, and honeys – all of them organic, of course. And there’s always a changing variety of tasters.

There are also regular wine classes and tastings. The Weindepots and Weinshops host attractive themed wine tastings every last Friday and Saturday of the month. Participation is free of charge, and you don’t need to register.

Delinat Weinbar & Shop right by the “Loebegge”

In the last few years, the Delinat wine bar by the “Loebegge” (corner of the LOEB department store) in Bern has become a popular meeting place and insider’s tip for wine connoisseurs. The offer is the only one of its kind in Switzerland: 100 Delinat wines can be ordered by the glass. All wines can also be purchased in bottles to take home.

But that’s not all the spacious wine cellar has to offer: it is also a place of relaxation and conscious indulgence. Wines are tasted and compared, there’s shop talk and small talk, relaxing and enjoying. The menu with tapas-style food is simple but varied. Only certified Delinat wines and tasty organic specialities from the region are served.
