Brunch on the Horbermatt Farm

If you’re looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, we recommend going for the “Buure-Brunch” (farmer’s brunch) at the Horbermatt farm, where you’ll be served delicious organic products sourced exclusively from the Ramser family’s farm.

The idyllic farm can be reached in only 20 minutes from Bern’s main station. Once you’re there, you’ll find a hearty brunch served in the cozy Spycher with everything your heart desires: bread and “Züpfe” (Swiss plaited bread), meats, jams, hash browns, fried eggs, cheese and, to finish, a sweet dessert. And the best part? All products are organic and come directly from the farm, be it the meat for the cold cuts, the milk for the cappuccino, the potatoes for the Rösti – or even the flour for the baked goods. It’s obvious: the brunch at the Horbermatt farm takes the meaning of the word “local” to a whole new level.

A visit to this farm in the municipality of Oberbalm between Köniz and Niedermuhlern is especially recommended for families. The delicious “Zmorge” (breakfast) is served from 10 am to 1 pm Afterwards, children can run around and play to their heart’s content in the large sandbox, on the bobby cars and the Berg tractors. In the meantime, the adults can discover the various historic buildings and the (permaculture) farm on an extensive walk.
