Skiing is contagious. In the 1930s, the skiing bug spread at breakneck speed in the Alpine region. Skiing became a lifestyle for the younger generation.

Skiing is contagious. In the 1930s, the skiing bug spread at breakneck speed in the Alpine region. Skiing became a lifestyle for the younger generation. Skiing was associated with being out in the fresh air, daring jumps – as well as the photography that captures and reproduces this lifestyle. Photographers Emanuel Gyger and Arnold Klopfenstein from Adelboden were the chief witnesses to this skiing culture. They were in the right place at the right time with their camera to hand.
