Frienisberg Scenic Route

The 43-kilometre route around Frienisberg hill offers beautiful panoramic views of the Seeland region, the city of Bern, and the Alps. Go for a ride along the Scenic Route and learn more about the raised bogs, cultural landscapes, forests, and unique views.

Route information

This route can easily be done in several stages, leaving more time to enjoy the different experiences along the way. Beginning, direction of travel, and distance can be chosen freely. Just follow the red bicycle signs for route 890 and make sure to stop at the signposted highlights. The cycling tour 890 crosses the e-bike route 888 Grünes Band Bern (Bern’s Green Belt) twice. These two routes can be combined freely.

The Cycling Tour 890 Frienisberg Scenic Route is a feast for the eyes. The heart of this route with a view is the Chutzenturm tower: after climbing the 234 steps to the top, you will be rewarded with an impressive panoramic view from Titlis to Moléson. On clear days, you can even spot Mont Blanc in the distance. At the Büsselimoos nature reserve and the Leutschen and Frieswilhubel scenic points, informative panels provide interesting facts about the impressive area. The Büsselimoos nature reserve is one of the smallest nature reserves in the canton of Bern.

In between scenic points, take the time to try local delicacies at the charming farm shops, treat yourself to a hearty meal or refreshing beverage at one of the welcoming restaurants, or relax and have a snack by an idyllic barbecuing pit.
