Patterned table linen made of white linen damask has adorned festive dining tables since the sixteenth century. Woven into the tablecloths, napkins and hand towels were artfully drawn compositions showing historical scenes, mythological and biblical stories and seafaring motifs. This exhibition devoted to historical table linen from the Netherlands will explain their manufacture and use.
