From 16 October to 21 November 2020, the Parliament Building (Bundeshaus) will transform itself for the tenth time into a giant outdoor screen. Rendez-vous Bundesplatz features a dazzling light display lasting around half an hour and is shown several times a day. Admission to the show is completely free.
The light shows are projected onto the Parliament Building every evening at 7:00 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. There is an additional performance at 9:15 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
This year's show will transform the Parliament Building into "Planet Hope" – an enormous boat that sets sail like Noah's Ark and experiences all the exciting things that Earth has to offer. As “Planet Hope” sails from continent to continent, (political) borders disappear. The sailing ship also encounters storm-tossed waves and melting icebergs, plastic waste and a humpback whale before returning to its home harbour of Bern.
The number of visitors for each performance is limited, and an admission check will be carried out. An Entry ID must be obtained in order to attend. The Entry ID (in the form of a QR code) can be saved as an image on your smartphone or printed out and is also reusable. All you have to do is show it at the entrance.
No smartphone? No problem! Another person can provide contact tracing for you via their smartphone, and they will then be obliged to pass on the information in case of an incident.
Due to the current situation, Rendez-vous Bundesplatz requires additional helpers to keep things running smoothly. Anyone who would like to be an active participant can register here.
