Protests against the war in Vietnam, women’s liberation, communes, loud rock and pop music, hippies with flowers in their hair: 1968 has many faces. Protests, demonstrations and happenings were the tools used by the youth of 1968 to combat traditional authorities and values and to fight for self-determination, justice and solidarity. The Bernisches Historisches Museum’s new temporary exhibition “1968 Switzerland” traces the history of this eventful time.
