Just a five-minute walk from Bern’s main station, yet seemingly miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life, stands a historic building. If only its walls could speak! The impressive villa was built in the 19th century by a silk manufacturer and later served as a residence for French ambassadors before it was redesigned and turned into a prestigious hotel in the 20th century. After a careful restoration and renovation process, it now houses the charming and welcoming Veranda restaurant.

The menu offers exquisite food from all over the world: be it a quick snack of Iberian ham with melon, a plate of artichoke ravioli with chickpeas and sage for fans of the Mediterranean cuisine, or a Bami Goreng with smoked tofu for vegetarian guests. Everything that’s served here is seasonal and predominantly organic. A little something sweet for dessert, anyone? You can’t leave without having tried the homemade ice cream!
The international dishes are served in the bright restaurant and, when the weather is nice, underneath the large plantains in the pretty garden or on the little terrace – the veranda.
