The forest is a wonderful place – for children, it is an adventure playground, calming oasis and classroom all in one. In under an hour by train or car from Bern, you will reach the beautiful forest adventure trail in Roggwil in the Oberaargau region.

The one-kilometre trail makes the most out of wood and the forest: there are 21 stations that teach old and young everything there is to know about the local flora and fauna in a playful and fun way – time will fly!

The round course begins and ends at the info pavilion on Jungfernplatz. There is a bit of an inclination to reach the highest point in the Roggwil forest. Please note: not all parts of the path are suited for strollers. But don’t worry, there are plenty of stops along the way – and wonderful rewards: a forest xylophone for making music, a zipline and a large ball path – everything children could ask for.

Adventure Playground and Barefoot Path

There are creatures from the tales of the brothers Grimm hidden in the fairytale forest, as well as many impressive wooden sculptures, for example the “standing bear”. The barefoot path is a wonderful sensory experience and yet another highlight. And at the end of the adventure, a large forest playground awaits, containing not the common playground activities, but fun and exciting alternatives.

It becomes evident that no expenses were spared when it comes to this trail, which was gifted to the public by the Citizen's Community Roggwil on the occasion of their 150-year anniversary in 2015. The 45 minutes that are indicated for the trail won’t be enough, especially if you have children – there’s just far too much to discover.

Picnic or Café

If you get hungry from all the discovering, playing and strolling, you can use the barbecuing pit and have a picnic, or you can head to Café Zulauf in Roggwil (please note: the café is closed on Mondays and only open until noon on Sundays).
