Every Sunday, there’s an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet packed with Swiss classics at the restaurant of the Bern Animal Park, Dählhölzli, which lies nestled between the animal enclosures and the Aare river. For 39 francs per person, you can indulge on everything from the mandatory Bernese “Züpfe” (plaited bread) to meat, salmon, and cheese platters to Birchermüesli and fruit salad, as well as hot dishes such as scrambled eggs, bacon, and Rösti (Swiss hash browns). And if you have a sweet tooth, you will be delighted to find treats such as French toast and plum compote on the buffet.

With its fun kids corner, the restaurant is perfect for families. It also has a large, inviting terrace for sunny summer days. Our tip: keep an eye out for the Dählhölzli’s mischievous raccoons – if you’re lucky, you can spot them running around and playing just a few steps from the restaurant.
