Who says you can’t celebrate Christmas with a crispy duck and chopsticks? If you can enjoy a fondue in the middle of summer, you can just as well savour a cold beer with Asian food in winter. If you’re in the mood for a different kind of team Christmas this year, Mishio will serve up an exquisite Asian fusion tavolata
A tavola
If you want to see something more than the Star of Bethlehem and take off into space at this year’s office Christmas party, you should make your way to the Nature Park Gantrisch. A special multimedia experience centre will open there this autumn. The planetarium, designed by star architect Mario Botta, lets you look into space and can also be rented for (Christmas) events. On request, groups can indulge in a spacey menu inside the Space Eye – it’s so delicious that the whole team will see stars.
COMMUNAL STARGAZING ANYONE?
For 125 years, the yellow-and-black club has been an integral part of the Swiss football scene. In the run-up to Christmas, roasted chestnuts and raclette will be served on the Quartierplatz in front of the Bernese Young Boys’ home stadium, instead of the usual YB sausage and champion’s beer. Meanwhile, the traditional YB chalet is serving up true football romance at rustic wooden tables, surrounded by warm lights, soft furs and a few merchandise items. The cosy ambiance is perfect for getting together and reminiscing over past and upcoming plays – with or without additional time.
Pass for the Christmas Party
Did someone say fondue? The Romantik Hotel Bären Dürrenroth really lives up to its name during the most wonderful time of the year. This authentic, family-run hotel serves a creamy fondue made with one of the first-grade cheeses from the «Dorfchäsi» (village cheese dairy). The cosy atmosphere, charming furnishings and warm hospitality make everybody feel right at home – so much so, that people will want to stay for a while. If you’d rather avoid cheese, they also offer a Fondue Chinoise on request.
Let’s meet up
Yes, the temperatures are dropping, and the weather is getting greyer, but the chattering of your teeth should not be louder than the clinking of champagne glasses. But the Tropenhaus Frutigen has a solution: after a short acclimatising aperitif with mulled wine or a tropical punch, it’s time to step into the tropical garden and enjoy regional and homemade specialities in the cosy warmth and tropical ambience – jungle feeling guaranteed.
Let’s go warm up
A cosy ambience and warm, traditional cuisine is just what you’re looking for? You’ll feel right at home in the rustic «Fondü-Hütte» (Fondue Hut) on the restaurant Schwellenmätteli’s terrace. Here you can enjoy a hearty Swiss fondue at long, wooden tables – but don’t forget to stir and whatever you do, do not lose your bread. And if you’re ready for even more Christmas spirit, you can order an outdoor aperitif with roasted chestnuts, pumpkin soup and mulled wine.
Ready, set, fondue!

Did someone say raclette? For gourmets where the eye not only eats, but also enjoys, there is melted cheese, vinegar gourds and "Härdöpfu" (potatoes) with a view on the Scenario Terrace of the Kursaal Bern in wintertime. While grilling your own cheese under the stars with a view of the enchanting old town of Bern and the mountain panorama in the background, you will not only feel warm in your heart and stomach, there will also be time for an extensive chat with your team colleagues.
Melt away
Tarte flambée from a wood-burning oven, freshly melted raclette from a cheese wheel, sausages and bread or a soup cooked over an open fire – in the restaurant Schöngrün’s garden, you can celebrate your company’s Christmas in the outdoors and create photobook-worthy memories. The Restaurant Schöngrün puts great importance on hospitality, a feel-good atmosphere and honest, contemporary cuisine – and the team in the garden stays true to these values.
