Trail running with views of the capital and the peaks of the Bernese Oberland: the different routes take you through the shady forest and up to the top of Bern’s local mountain.
Starting at the valley station of the Gurten funicular, which can be reached in about 15 minutes from Bern’s main station with tram no. 9, several trails lead through the forest to the top of the Gurten. On hot days, the shady and cool forest trail is definitely our favourite.
And the ascent is not only pleasant, it is also beautiful: when the weather is clear, trail runners on Bern’s local mountain are awarded with a stunning view of the Old City and the peaks of the Bernese Oberland. If you’re lucky, the panorama is sometimes complemented by spectacular mist and a few golden rays of sunshine in the fall and winter.

The Gurten trails are the perfect preparation for the Grand Prix of Bern or any other of the many running events that take place in and around Bern throughout the year.
