The shnit – Worldwide Shortfilmfestival is based on a unique concept. The festival takes place simultaneously in the cities of Bern, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Cape Town, Hong Kong, Moscow, San José and New York. Over eleven days and nights, more than 200 short films are screened and celebrated on five continents. Baffling documentaries, animations, feature films and novel experimental films flicker on cinema screens in every corner of the world.

The heart-piece of the shnit are the international and the national competitions. Each year, the festival features more than 100 short films from over 40 countries competing for the most prestigious awards. The audience enjoys these films either bundled by genre and character or in a mixed format. The local film diversity is showcased as part of the national competition. The films compete against each other and convince with creativity, humor, excitement and much more.
The shnit is rounded off with a tempting program, including relaxation oases, after-show parties and culinary delights.
