An operetta in June and a folk play from July to August: The Freilichtspiele Moosegg offers plenty of theatre during summer. The open-air stage hosts touching plays that relate to the Emmental region and its inhabitants, or that fit in well with the event in terms of dramaturgy. Simon Burkhalter has been leading the popular open-air spectacle since 2017.
The theatre season of the Freilichtspiele Moosegg are opened with a comedy operetta from 1917: “Schwarwaldmädel” by the German composer Leon Jessel. For the 2019 reenactment, the lively and heartbreaking Singspiel is relocated to the Emmental. The folk play “Chachelihannes” refers back to a calendar story by the local writer Jeremias Gotthelf. A fast-paced comedy that is also brimming with love chaos. Both the operetta and the folk play are performed in Swiss German.
