Spring 2021: Grill and Chill
With its "Grill and Chill" campaign, Bern Welcome provides inspiration for springtime experiences – barbecues are one of them! We asked two embassies whose countries are known worldwide for their barbecue traditions to share a recipe: Argentina and the USA.
Chimichurri is a traditional Argentinian sauce that accompanies a good roast (asado). The Embassy of Argentina reveals the recipe that is easy to recreate! Take and mix: fresh garlic (8 cloves), fresh parsley (100g), dried oregano (1 tablespoon), dried bay leaves (2-4 leaves), ground hot ají chili (2 tablespoons), salt (to taste), ground pepper (1/2 tablespoon), sunflower oil (1/2 cup) and wine vinegar (1/4 cup). The chimichurri is served at room temperature over the grilled meat. Asado and chimichurri are, of course, accompanied by a good Argentinian wine.
USA: Ribs, watermelon and coleslaw salads with chili
The Ambassador's chef David Lindsay shows us in a video how he prepares the traditional pork ribs for the US National Day – also delicious on a warm Swiss spring day. Discover the classic ingredients he uses to cook the ribs, watermelon and zesty coleslaw salads with chili. Whether in Bern or Baton Rouge – enjoy your meal!
