Sledding on the Gurten

Sledding above the fog and with a view of the snowy peaks of the Bernese Oberland – the Gurten is a popular destination for the entire family, especially in the wintertime.

As soon as there is snow on the rooftops of Bern, the Gurten turns into a little winter wonderland. It’s only around half an hour away from the city centre and offers sledding, skiing and fun in the snow for the whole family.

The sledding slope leads through the forest, over hilly passages and through narrow curves all the way to the half-way station of the funicular. If you prefer a calmer ride or if it’s your first time on a sled, there is a small, short slope on the meadow.

Tobogganing fun for the whole family!

Safe equipment and waterproof clothing are recommended for all slopes. Visitors who don’t have their own sled can rent one of the sixty sturdy Davoser sleds awaiting at the top station of the Gurten funicular.

Snow enthusiasts can also hop onto their skis and practice their turns. The small ski slope is particularly suited for beginners and children. More information on skiing on the Gurten can be found here.
