When the sun comes out, hundreds of locals head to the Aare river for a swim, with the impressive UNESCO-listed Old Town towering majestically overhead. Is this unforgettable highlight something you’ve wanted to experience but haven’t yet dared to try? Stadtwellen’s introductory course gives you the chance to venture into the Aare for a swim in a protected setting.
Trained lifeguards accompany you on your swim in the Aare, helping you avoid unnecessary risks and dangerous situations. You can enjoy your swim in the river while admiring the beautiful backdrop of our capital city.
Some of the things you’ll learn:
- When to swim in the Aare, and when it’s too dangerous
- How to prepare for a swim in the Aare
- The best places to enter and exit the river
The course is organized by Stadtwellen, an association aimed at promoting safe swimming in the Aare river. Participants are accompanied by lifeguards representing the Swiss Lifesaving Society (SLRG) Bern.
