Steeped in history, the Restaurant Zum Äusseren Stand is located in the heart of Bern’s Old Town, just a stone’s throw from the Zytglogge (Clock Tower) and the Bundesplatz (Parliament Square). History was made here.
To be more precise, it was in the magnificent Empire Hall (formerly Council of States Hall) that the Swiss federal constitution was adopted in 1848.
In addition to the restaurant, the venue has two other spaces that are ideal for events of all kinds. The light-filled courtyard Hof Café invites you to linger, and its charming atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for business lunches or aperitifs. If you are looking for just the right setting for large or small events with a special flair, the Empire Hall is the place for you. The Baroque-style historic hall lends an extra flair to every event.
The Restaurant Zum Äusseren Stand also ensures that guests are completely satisfied when it comes to the culinary side of things. The restaurant’s exquisite cuisine, awarded a Michelin star, incorporates influences from all over the world to ensure refined taste sensations that will please the palate. Only specially selected, high-quality and seasonal ingredients are used to create surprising and unique dishes.
