First-class entertainment on the Moosegg: enjoy the diverse and fun open-air plays at the Waldbühne Moosegg open-air theatre – with a large ensemble, appealing scripts and stories and a lot of swissness. The moving plays that have been staged here for over 20 years always either have a connection to the Emmental region and its inhabitants or suit Moosegg wonderfully in terms of dramaturgy. Please note: the plays are in Swiss German.

The comedy operetta "Frau Luna" by Berlin composer Paul Lincke will kick off this year's theatre season. For the performances on the Moosegg, the plot of the dynamic musical comedy full of heartache and drama has been peppered with lots of Emmental anecdotes and regional humour. In July, the programme will change and make room for a classic, “Katharina Knie”. The story is purely fictional, although playwright Carl Zuckmayer did get some inspiration from the story of the four Knie brothers when writing the comedy.

In addition to the open-air theatre, there’s an acclaimed restaurant on the Moosegg that has been awarded GaultMillau points and serves delicious culinary treats. If desired, you can also stay at the hotel after the play, which will give you plenty of time to round off the evening with a post-theatre nightcap.
