Aare Rafting from Thun (Uttigen) to Bern

The classic river stretch: a must for all visitors to Bern, and the most special way of experiencing Bern’s famous leisurely atmosphere from up close.

Whether with friends, family or colleagues, a river rafting trip on the Aare river is a unique experience! The journey begins in Uttigen near Thun, and ends in Wabern/Bern by the Eichholz campsite. In between the two lie 18 kilometers of crystal-clear Aare waters, running through an enchanting wilderness and meadow landscape with views of the snow-capped mountains in the background.

You can hire a raft (six people per boat) with paddles, life jackets for all, and a watertight bag for necessities from Uttigen station. Just return the rental equipment in Eichholz and pick up your personal belongings, which will have been transported there for you.

The trip takes around 2.5 to 3 hours without stopping, but you don’t have to return the raft until 6 p.m. so there is plenty of time to enjoy your day to the full and make some stops along the way. Take a barbecue or picnic and some drinks with you to really get that incomparable Aare feeling!
