Art & Architecture

Modern architecture such as the Zentrum Paul Klee (by Renzo Piano) or the Westside shopping and leisure center (by Daniel Libeskind) perfectly complements the medieval architectural highlight that is our UNESCO World Heritage Site Old Town.

Bern – a combination of UNESCO World Heritage site, modern architecture and art.  The Swiss capital embodies a unique blend of the traditional and the modern. The real heart of Bern is its beautiful Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983.

This old part of the city boasts six kilometers of arcades – covered walkways offering visitors shelter from the wind and weather, with plenty of hidden cellar venues inviting people to stop by on their stroll through town.

Bern is also known as a center for culture and is home to some of Switzerland’s leading museums and galleries – including the oldest Swiss art museum and the world’s first museum dedicated to Einstein. Zentrum Paul Klee, with its combination of internationally renowned art and unique modern architecture, also makes for a memorable visit.
